Jeannie is a passionate climber and backcountry skier who spent 25+ years developing technical apparel for Patagonia, Rab, and Outdoor Research. An endurance addict, she raced nordic (missed the Olympics by one spot), won the American Birkebeiner, and placed top five at the skimo World Championships. In her early 50s she climbed Fitz Roy and El Cap's Nose with women partners and co-founded Broad Beta, a media movement sharing queer and women's transformative mountain stories.

In her own words

gathered from published interviews — sources linked

“I'm climbing harder than ever, sending routes I'd only fantasized about … what I'm capable of continues to surprise me, even as my body and my mind shift and change.”From her essay in Climbing magazine (2021)
“I'd be lying if I said that I don't still struggle with it all, but I'm learning to be patient, to find calm in chaos, and to give in gracefully.”From her essay in Climbing magazine (2021)
“Ticking routes, while exciting, still feels less important than the relationships that support me while I'm out there — with my climbing partners, with wilderness, and with myself.”From her essay in Climbing magazine (2021)
